Prof. Dr. Stefanie Bröring

Stefanie Bröring is a full professor for Entrepreneurship and Innovative Business Models and serves as academic director of the World Factory Start-Up Center at Ruhr University Bochum, Germany. She received her PhD in Business Management (summa cum laude) from the University of Münster including a visit at the University of Quebec at Montreal. Prior academia, she gained diverse consulting and industry experience, mainly in new business development in the chemical (e.g. Evonik) and agricultural sectors. Her primary areas of interest in teaching, research, and transfer revolve around understanding the dynamics of clean technologies, business models, and technology-based startups to promote sustainability transitions. Her research is motivated by science and technology convergence leading to the emergence of novel technology systems (such as synthetic biology or smart farming). Overall, her work aims to advance our understanding of emerging (clean) technology systems, related technology strategies, and (joint) value creation in emerging business ecosystems. Her resarch is published in leading journals including Journal of Product Innovation Management, Research Policy, R&D Management, Technovation, or Journal of Technology Transfer. Moreover, she advices the German federal government (BMEL) on AgTech/BioEconomy start-up selection and serves as a member of the NRWBioEconomy Council as well as the Cluster Industrial Biotechnology (CLIB) and she is a co-founder of AachenProteineers.
